The head of the T is confident the Orange Line will reopen on Monday as planned.

The line shut down last month for extensive track and rail repairs, and the installation of new train cars.

MBTA officials said more than 80% of that work is now complete.

General Manager Steve Poftak said some speed restrictions will be in place during the first week of operation.

"It's gonna take a couple days. We want to take a look, make sure that the make sure it's everything is safe, make sure that we do a thorough inspection of the work that we've done," Poftak said. "After revenue, trains have run over it. Once we're satisfied that it's safe, then we'll lift the speed restrictions."

The Green Line between Government Center and Union Square is also set to reopen on Monday. However, a large section of the D Branch of that line will close later this month for construction work.
