Boston City workers are removing nearly two dozen street lights from the Seaport neighborhood after one fell and struck a woman in the head this week.

City officials said the woman was walking across the Evelyn Moakley Bridge on Tuesday when the accident happened.

She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

City Councilor Ed Flynn is calling for an audit of all city bridges and light poles as a result, with priority for those near the ocean.

He said replacement poles will need to be ready to "withstand the elements of salt water and sea air which led to this incident."
