While there hasn't been much snow in Massachusetts this winter, the little bit that's fallen might have you daydreaming about summertime fun on the state's popular islands.

If so, be aware that spring, summer and fall ferry reservations to Nantucket are now open. You can book seats from May 18 through Oct. 23.

Sean Driscoll, a spokesman for the Steamship Authority, said holiday and weekend spots fill quickly.

"The more flexible you can be in your travel arrangements, the better," he said, adding that those who can travel midweek won't need to fight others for the Friday and Sunday evening slots that fill up the fastest.

As of early Tuesday, wait times were at least 15 minutes long on the booking websites.

Ferry reservations to Martha's Vineyard open next Tuesday.
