Somerville taps Salem administrator Rubén Carmona as next superintedent

Somerville has a new superintendent of its schools.

The city's school committee tapped Rubén Carmona, executive director of employee engagement at Salem Public Schools, for the role.

Previously, Carmona was a principal in both Salem and Lowell. He also worked as a regional academic director in Boston Public Schools.

He will succeed Mary Skipper, who left Somerville last year to lead Boston Public Schools.
