Voters decided mayoral races in municipalities across Massachusetts Tuesday. Here are the unofficial election results:
Agawam
In an open race to succeed current Mayor Bill Sapelli, City Council President Christopher Johnson beat City Councilor Cecilia Calabrese.
Amesbury
Incumbent Mayor Kassandra Gove fended off a challenge from former City Councilor Richard Marggraf to secure another term.
Beverly
Incumbent Mayor Mike Cahill, who has been in office for 10 years, defeated his opponent Jamie Zarella.
Braintree
Incumbent Braintree Mayor Charles Kokoros will lose his seat, falling to challenger Erin Joyce, a business owner and former chair of the Braintree Planning Board, in an upset.
Brockton
Incumbent Mayor Robert Sullivan will keep his seat, beating out challenger Fred Fontaine.
Chicopee
Incumbent Mayor John Vieau claimed victory Tuesday; His challenger, City Councilor Delmarina López, conceded the race.
Fall River
Incumbent Mayor Paul Coogan will hold onto his seat for another term, beating out challenger and former mayor of the city, Sam Sutter.
Fitchburg
City Councilor-at-Large Samantha Squailia won the mayoral contest against incumbent Stephen DiNatale.
Gardner
Incumbent Mayor Michael Nicholson won reelection, defeating challenger Kimberly Blake.
Gloucester
Incumbent Mayor Greg Verga will keep his seat, beating out the city’s former health director Mary Ellen Rose. Verga had fired Rose from her previous post as the health director earlier this year.
Greenfield
City Councilor Virginia “Ginny” DeSorgher defeated incumbent Mayor Roxann Wedegartner in Greenfield's mayoral race.
Haverhill
In an open race to succeed 10-term Mayor James J. Fiorentini, Councilor Melinda E. Barrett beat Guy Cooper. Barrett will be the first woman to be mayor of Haverhill, according to WHAV.
Malden
Incumbent Gary Christenson won a fourth term, fending off a challenge from political newcomer Lissette Aracely Alvarado.
Marlborough
In an open race to succeed six-term Mayor Arthur Vigeant, City Councilor J. Christian Dumais beat City Councilor Samantha Perlman.
Medford
Incumbent Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn will keep her seat after defeating City Councilor Rick Caraviello.
Melrose
In an open race to succeed outgoing Mayor Paul Brodeur, City Council President Jennifer Grigoraitis will take office after beating out former councilor Monica Medeiros Solano.
Methuen
Incumbent Neil Perry warded off a challenge from Matthew Wicks to secure a third term in office.
New Bedford
Incumbent Mayor Jon Mitchell will retain his seat, beating out Tyson Moultrie.
North Adams
Incumbent Mayor Jennifer Macksey will serve another term, after fending off a challenge from Aprilyn Carsno.
Peabody
Ted Bettencourt was elected to a seventh term after besting his opponent Rochelle Agneta.
Pittsfield
In an open race to succeed outgoing Mayor Linda Tyer, City Council President Peter Marchetti won office over former City Councilor John Krol.
Quincy
Incumbent Mayor Thomas Koch, the city's longest-serving mayor, will serve another term after defeating his challenger, Councilor-at-Large Anne Mahoney.
Revere
Acting Mayor Patrick Keefe will take the role permanently after winning over former mayor Dan Rizzo.
Somerville
Incumbent Mayor Katjana Ballantyne will keep her seat, winning over William (Billy) Tauro.
Springfield
Mayor Domenic Sarno, who’s led Massachusetts’ third largest city since 2007, will serve another term, after defeating a challenge from City Councilor Justin Hurst.
Taunton
Incumbent Mayor Shaunna O’Connell will keep her seat, beating out Ed Correira, her former campaign manager and chief of staff.
Weymouth
Incumbent Mayor Robert Hedlund will serve another term, beating out a challenge from Marine Corps veteran Ed Cowen.
Waltham
Incumbent Mayor Jeannette McCarthy defeated City Councilor Jonathan Paz to secure another term in office.
Westfield
Incumbent Michael McCabe will serve another term as mayor after defeating his opponent Kristen Mello.
Woburn
Woburn City Council President Mike Concannon will be Woburn's next mayor after defeating incumbent Scott Galvin.
Worcester
Incumbent Mayor Joe Petty was reelected mayor for a seventh term, handily beating his four opponents Khrystian King, Bill Coleman, Donna Colorio, Guillermo Creamer Jr.
