Donald Trump has won the Republican primary in Massachusetts, continuing his speed run to another GOP presidential nomination. That Associated Press called the race just after 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The victory dashed any long-shot hopes former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley had of making some noise in the primary season, as she announced she was dropping out Wednesday morning. Haley made a go of it in Massachusetts, campaigning here even though local Republican voters have consistently supported Trump.

Despite consistent drubbings by the former president in nearly every previous primary or caucus, Haley had vowed to continue her campaign through Super Tuesday. Her hopes were buoyed over the weekend when she won the Washington, D.C. primary, becoming the first woman to win a Republican presidential primary. But her results on Super Tuesday weren't enough.
