Trump lawyer has his Massachusetts law license suspended

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has temporarily suspended the state law license of an attorney who helped orchestrate the Trump campaign's 2020 fake electors plot.

Justice Frank Gaziano issued the order to immediately but temporarily suspend of the license of Kenneth Chesebro, an attorney who practiced in Cambridge and has an address listed in Puerto Rico with the state Board of Bar Overseers.  The order stems from a notice to the Supreme Judicial Court about Chesebro's criminal conviction in the Georgia. It took effect March 13.

In October, Chesebro pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in a Georgia court, admitting he helped former President Trump and others create fraudulent slates of pro-Trump electors in six states, including Georgia, that President Biden had won.

Chesebro pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. He was sentenced to serve five years of probation and pay $5,000 in restitution. He also will be required to testify against co-defendants at future trials, and he has written a letter of apology to the people of Georgia.

The Massachusetts high court's order requires that Chesebro withdraw from cases in which he is a legal representative, notify all clients of the temporary suspension and to close client accounts and disperse or transfer client funds in his possession. The order requires that Chesebro provide the Office of Bar Counsel with proof that he has followed those conditions within 21 days.
