Celtics sold to private equity executive for $6.1 billion

William Chisholm, a California-based executive who grew up in Massachusetts, is acquiring the Boston Celtics from current owner Wyc Grousbeck. The sale's $6.1 billion price tag is a record for a sports franchise in North America.
