What Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods could mean for a longtime Mass. steel mill

04:24

If you've eaten lobster in New England recently, James Knott Jr. probably helped bring you the meal. He is the CEO of Riverdale Mills of Northbridge. It produces wire mesh for lobster and other fishing traps used around the world. His late father, James Sr., invented the mesh nearly 50 years ago.

But starting in April, Riverdale may have to pay 50% combined tariffs imposed in Canadian steel by the Trump administration. Knott joins WBUR's Morning Edition to talk about what impact those tariffs will have on his business.

This segment aired on March 21, 2025.
