A skeptic's look at Mayor Wu's and challenger Kraft's ideas to rein in Boston rental costs
Rent control is up for debate in Boston again.
Mayoral hopeful Josh Kraft put it back on the agenda with a campaign pledge to rein in rental rates. Mayor Michelle Wu had tried to impose rent control herself in 2023, but the plan was killed on Beacon Hill.
Evan Horowitz, who runs the Center for State Policy Analysis at Tufts University, joins WBUR's Morning Edition to make the case that neither Wu's nor Kraft's proposals are good ideas.
This segment aired on March 27, 2025.
