Trump's antisemitism task force is skipping its planned Boston meeting

A U.S. Department of Justice meeting scheduled for Boston appears to be shelved — at least for now.

Members of the DOJ's task force on antisemitism had planned to meet with the mayor and others Wednesday. But according to city officials, the task force has not followed up or confirmed those plans since a preliminary meeting earlier this month.

The city has emailed the DOJ's Civil Rights Division to ask for more specifics on what it's looking to probe in Boston — to no avail, officials said. Earlier, the Trump task force had said it was coming to discuss “alleged harassment and discrimination against Jewish people” at schools in the city.

The DOJ did not immediately respond to WBUR's request for comment Tuesday. The Trump administration is engaged in a major battle with Harvard University over allegations the school was too lenient with pro-Palestinian protesters during last year's demonstrations against the war in Gaza at campuses across the country. Harvard has sued the administration for freezing billions of dollars in federal grants.
