Mass. researchers once again lose grant funding as Supreme Court sides with the Trump administration

03:15

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the National Institutes of Health does not need to continue paying $783 million in previously cut research grants to projects.

The decision overturned a lower court ruling that the federal government needed to keep paying for the grants.

The ruling means that health researchers in Massachusetts are seeing their federal grants cut, again. Harvard research scientist Scott Delaney started website called Grant Witness that tracks all of this year's federal cuts. He joins WBUR's Morning Edition to talk about the back-and-forth over funding playing out in the courts.

This segment aired on August 22, 2025.
