World Cup kit fit check: What the teams playing in 'Boston' will wear

Sure, the ticket prices are insane. And the traffic will be miserable. And taking the T is both complicated and expensive.

But this is the beautiful game, so let's look at the pretty uniforms of the teams coming to Foxborough.

Kits will forever change to match the fashion of the day, to sell more jerseys, to reflect the times we live in, to sell more jerseys, to make use of the latest materials, and to sell more and more jerseys. The things that last, however, are the badges, which in general undergo very little change as the years progress. Study the badge and you'll always know who you're watching.

Beyond the badge, here's what style to look for on the pitch.

England

England's men's team, like many national sides, likes to play it safe with their kits. This World Cup is no different. The English wear white for home, and red for their away games. Both kits have a fun, subtle pattern, however. And before you ask: yes, even though the World Cup is played at a neutral location, each team is designated as either home or away.

Called The Three Lions, the team derives its nickname from its badge: Three old timey big cats sprawl across a field of roses. There's one star above the badge, representing England's sole World Cup win in 1966.

France

One of the favorites in this year's World Cup, France — aka Les Blues — wear their trademark color for matches as the home team, though it comes with a little zig-zaggy flair. They'll suit up in a minty green number for their away games. France's badge has no edges; a big rooster sits on the left breast, with two stars above marking the team's two World Cup championships.

Ghana

Ghana's national soccer team is called The Black Stars, and their 2026 kits really lean into that moniker. The home jersey is white with a fun, sort of geometric, like your kid's drawing on the refrigerator, rainbow-colored pattern. The away kit is yellow with more traditional patterns. While the black star is the, ahem, star of the show, the team's badge features a soccer ball encircled by the Ghanaian flag.

Haiti

Haiti will return to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, and they're bringing three different kits to the affair, sporting red, white and blue in a nod to the nation's flag. Embedded throughout the otherwise solid colors are images of the nation's people, mountains and fauna.  The badge has a crest resembling Haiti's flag.

Morocco

Morocco were the Cinderella team of the 2022 World Cup and come into this tournament in good form, having made it to the Africa Cup of Nations finals earlier this year (Did they win? That's harder to say than you'd think!)

Morocco always goes for a red home kit with a green trim, a nod to its flag. The away kit is white with a cream print along the front. Both carry Morocco's shooting star-like badge.

Norway

Norway, like all the Nordic countries, has a flag with a cross emblazoned on a solid-color field. It's a familiar, pleasing aesthetic, and the nation's 2026 home kit leans all the way into the look. Their away kits went way far away from traditional, going black on black, or what the kids call color-drenching. Norway's badge reflects the kit; It's traditional on the home kit and blacked out for away matches.

Scotland

Scotland makes it easy when it comes to their home kit: The team always wears a dark blue.

For their 2026 away kit, they decided to go with ... pink? Coral? Salmon? Kit maker Adidas calls it "trace scarlet." Fans aren't sure what color it is, but it's certainly striking with its pinstripes. Muddying the waters further for casual observers, the team's fans are called The Tartan Army, adding more colors to the mix.

The badge features a lion in a field of thistles.

Bonus: The U.S.

They aren't scheduled for a match in Foxborough, but let's all be homers for a moment and check out the U.S. men's World Cup kits.

The thing about the U.S. is you never know what sort of fit they're going to go for. They change their kits often, going in wildly different directions. They switched things up again for 2026, but with a nod toward a classic look they donned for the 1994 tournament, which was hosted here in the ol' U. S. of A.

The home kit features red and white stripes in a horizontal, waving pattern. The away kits are a midnight blue with equally dark stars.
