Music on Only A Game - 6/20/2009

Here's a list of music featured on Saturday, June 20, 2009.  Only A Game's Senior Producer (and music guru) comments on his choices.

  • My Dad by Paul Petersen

Gary's take - A lesser-known Brill Building creation, sung by a former Mousketeer and Donna Reed Show actor. Sappy? You bet! Still, a holiday-appropriate tear-jerker, so why not?

  • The Streak by Ray Stevens

Gary's take - The less said about this song and this artist the better, I suppose. But I admit to my soft spot for The Streak, because in 1974 it sparked a wave of exhibitionism across the US that washed over my town in ways my 11 year old friends and I found pretty entertaining…and sometimes just really pretty.

  •  Trafficscape by Eric Winstone

Gary's take - A lively, pleasant number from one of our favorite collections of motivational music, Music for TV Dinners. This instrumental ditty just makes you want to chase buses, doesn’t it?

  • Golf is a Cussin’ Game by Brad Belt

Gary's take - Very cheesy, I know, but sometimes cheese can please. This is the title track from Belt’s only CD release, which is subtitled “Ten insane, irreverent, wacky and wonderful golf songs”. Well, two out of four isn’t bad. As with last week’s apostrophized song title, the punctuation should be blamed on the songwriter and not on me.
