This week's guest music blogger is Only A Game Technical Director John Perotti. Here's John's take on the music we used in this week's show...

While the cat's away the mice will play. Every time Senior Producer Gary Waleik is on vacation, we do our best to think up music choices that would perhaps not otherwise be considered for the show (Basically, songs Gary would hate.) We almost used a song by Scandal, but it just didn't work out and I couldn't get any of Doug Tribou's old Madonna CDs to play.

That said, here are this week's music selections:

B Seiten Sound - Rubik's Cube

Have you ever spent any time with a reggae band? They absolutely love brain teasers. It's no wonder we stumbled across this gem that marries island rhythms with that nerdy favorite, the Rubik's Cube.

This Little Piggy - Brainiac

Brainiac is the kind of band that really likes their Moog Synthesizers. You would know that if you were checking out the side-stage at Lollapalooza '95.  Gary probably was. I definitely wasn't. I was nerding it up on my high school radio station and spending my evenings not going on hot dates.

iPad - Parry Gripp

Parry Gripp is the frontman for Nerf Herder and a lover of nachos. There aren't a lot of tunes about iPads yet, so it's pretty lucky we found even one. Future songwriters, take note!

Ride of the Valkyries - Wagner

Is there anything more epic? Well, maybe 100 dump trucks full of fireworks jumping off Mount Rushmore into a pool of gasoline. But just maybe.

Old Jim Crow - Nina Simone

Oh Nina, you have a real classy sound... very much like Only A Game does.
