The Techno-Pop of Super Furry Animals

When the hipster press of popular music refers to your band as a gang of Welsh oddballs, you know you're not in the pop mainstream. But when you start by naming your group Super Furry Animals, the mainstream is not where you're aiming anyway.
Super Furry Animals have the now of Radiohead and the retro-edge of The Beatles. They're called techno-pop, but high-tech futurists paying tribute to obscure '60s vinyl comes closer.
Tonight, On Point: Super Furry Animals.
Guests:
Gruff Rhys, lead singer and guitarist for the Super Furry Animals
This program aired on October 4, 2002.
