When Bob Marley sang "No Woman No Cry" on tour, often with his wife Rita Marley singing backup, he would often use its tender lyrics to mend their fitful marriage. In many ways, Rita Marley was the woman from Trenchtown in her husband's famous song. They married when she was 19. He was 21.

She was with him at the beginning. She was with him at the end. In between was a bond of music, four children, and a marriage whipped by the highs and lows of Bob Marley's stardom. After his death in 1981, Rita Marley went on with her own music career and a rich embrace of development projects in Africa. Now she's written a memoir of her life, and life with Bob Marley.
