Barney Frank Won't Seek Re-Election

Congressman Barney Frank announced this week that he will not seek re-election in 2012. All told, Frank has spent 21 years in Washington representing the 4th District of Massachusetts.

His most high-profile time during the 16 terms he spent on Capitol Hill, was as chairman of the House Financial Services committee, a post he held from 2007 to 2011. As chairman, he shepherded through the landmark Dodd-Frank financial regulation legislation, written in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

Congressman Frank, 71, has appeared numerous times on On Point, discussing cuts to the military, "Too Big To Fail," and how to clean up the subprime mess.
