Tom Meets A Future NPR Host In The Making
Late on Halloween night, we received an email from a fan whose young child had gone as On Point host Tom Ashbrook for an evening of trick-or-treating. It was a pretty good likeness, so naturally we invited the would-be NPR host of the future into our studio for a chance to meet his costume inspiration, and for Tom to see what his future competition looks like.
Nolan is all of one-and-a-half, but he definitely looks like he's ready to hop in the host seat and take over our next hour of air time.
Nolan was at times more interested in the lights and sound of the studio than our conversation with author and novelist Ann Patchett, but he sat through a whole half-hour of programming in order to meet Tom after the show.
We thank Nolan's parents for sharing their wonderful Halloween photo with us, and for joining us in studio today. Is Nolan really the face of NPR's future? Our staff certainly thinks so — more than a few producers have already played around with the idea of 'On Point With Nolan Tosh,' starting next Monday. Stay tuned for the pending host coup.
