Happy Presidents / President's Day From On Point
Today is Presidents Day (or President's Day, or Washington's Birthday here in Massachusetts) that mid-winter federal holiday during which we celebrate the birth of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as well as sometimes Thomas Jefferson and maybe even other Presidents. And also, big mattress sales. Washington's actual birthday is February 22, but the Federal calendar needs consistency, which means that today is that special vague holiday. The Federal government, stock markets, schools and many businesses are closed in recognition of the birth of past American Presidents.
Many of our listeners might be off of work today, enjoying the mid-February sun and stocking up on new cars and matresses and smart phones and the like. As you relish your well-earned holiday, why not listen back to some On Point Radio classics on Presidents new and old?
