Diane von Furstenberg is a fashion legend, the designer who created the iconic wrap dress. Maybe you've got one in your closet (FYI, the Smithsonian has one, too).

Interview Magazine calls her America's "fashion godmother" — complete with an immigrant story — she arrived, suitcase full of dress samples, in New York in the early 1970s. Just a handful of years later she was on the cover of Newsweek. The company that bears her name, DVF, is now a global luxury fashion brand.

Von Furstenberg is also an outspoken and influential mentor. Thursday she was in Boston, delivering a keynote address at the Massachusetts Conference for Women. We caught up with her just before she took the stage to speak to the conference's 10,000 attendees.
