Last year was big for the Boston band STL GLD. They won “Live Artist of the Year” at the 2018 Boston Music Awards and were named “Boston's Best Band” by Improper Bostonian magazine. They landed a spot on the Boston Calling festival and they've now shared the stage with Eminem, Khalid and The Roots.

But this year, the band's on the verge of something even bigger — with the release of their latest album "The New Normal." We speak with two members of STL GLD about the album and the state of rap music in Boston in 2019.

Ahead of Friday's album release, listen to the premiere of the track "Ashes":

The band will celebrate the release of the new album on Friday, Feb. 1 at the Oberon in Cambridge. Tickets are available here
