Columbia Gas has reached an $80 million settlement with the Merrimack Valley communities of Lawrence, Andover and North Andover. Municipal and company officials announced the settlement at a news conference this afternoon.

The money is compensation for damage wrought by last year's gas explosions and fires. It'll help pay for things like fixing roads torn up when Columbia replaced 43 miles of underground pipeline.
