Chelsea Joins Call To Baker Administration To Get COVID Vaccine To High-Risk Communities Right Now

15:34

We're nearing the end of Phase 1 of vaccinations in Massachusetts.
Gov. Baker today announced that everyone in the Phase 1 category would be able to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

That's big news for a vaccine rollout that has been criticized as moving too slowly — especially for communities of color.

Earlier this week, over 400 medical professionals sent a letter calling on Baker to prioritize vaccinations for high-risk communities of color, like Chelsea.

We hear from two voices on the ground in Chelsea, a community cited in the letter. We're joined by Dinanyili Paulino, the Chief Operating Officer of La Colaborativa, also known as the Chelsea Collaborative, a group that works to empower Latinx immigrants to enhance their community's social and economic health. Also with us is Dr. Wanda Gonzalez, a pediatrician at MGH Chelsea Healthcare Center, who signed the letter.

This segment aired on January 21, 2021.
