Over the weekend, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti.

News of the devastation hit particularly hard here in Massachusetts, which hosts the third largest Haitian community in America. At last count, more than 1,000 Haitians are presumed dead, thousands more are injured.

Now, just days after the quake, those on the ground there are preparing for Tropical Storm Grace, which is set to make landfall on the island Monday night.

Linda Dorcena Forry was the first Haitian-American woman elected to the state Senate. She's now a vice president at Suffolk Construction. She joins us to talk about local aid efforts and what's next for the island.

This segment aired on August 16, 2021.
