Rewind 18 months: the pandemic is still in the early stages, offices are tentatively pushing back their return dates month by month and it's getting clearer by the day that we'll be in quarantine for a while. People start looking around the homes they're now trapped in, and finding them a little bit empty.

And you know what might fill that space? A dog.

Let the "pandemic puppy" craze begin.

According to a survey done by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 23 million households in the US welcomed a new pet into their home during the pandemic.

Mike Keiley, director of adoption centers and programs at the MSPCA, joined us to give an update on those puppies and the new owners.

This segment aired on February 17, 2022.
