Award-winning indie film echoes events of Holyoke Soldiers' Home

The pandemic is put in sharp relief in the new independent film, "What Happened at the Veteran's Home?"

The 50-minute film by local musician Laura Wetzler was shot in eight days here in Massachusetts. It's been winning several accolades at various film festivals. It evokes painful memories of the tragic deaths of dozens of veterans at the Holyoke Soldiers' home in 2020.

The film is set to appear at the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival on April 16 and at the Boston International Film Festival on April 17.
