How one family dominated Boston's tattoo industry for decades

20:01

In 1962, Massachusetts instituted a ban on tattooing that lasted all the way to 2000. Harold "Lefty" Liberty was one of the last tattoo artists working in Boston's longtime entertainment district, Scollay Square, before the ban came down. He was also part of a dynasty of tattoo artists that started in the days of tattooed men in sideshows and lasted all the way to the destruction of Scollay Square.
