Pressley, Warren visit major Mass. cities to help people apply for student loan forgiveness

Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley will travel to several Massachusetts cities next week to raise awareness about the Biden administration's student debt forgiveness program.
The well-known Democrats are scheduled to visit Boston, Brockton, Worcester and Springfield to assist eligible residents with relief applications. Here's a list of the events and locations in which Warren and Pressley will appear; attendees are asked to RSVP in advance.
Pressley, appearing on WBUR's Radio Boston, said that as of Wednesday, roughly 12 million Americans applied to see if the federal government will cancel up to $20,000 worth of their student loan balances.
"It's not true [that] 'if you build it, they will come' if folks don't know about it," Pressley said. "And we know just how meaningful this relief is, and we want everyone who's eligible to benefit from it."
Borrowers who made $125,000 or less as an individual, or $250,000 as a household, are eligible for up to $10,000 in loan forgiveness. If the borrower received a federal Pell grant, that person could qualify for up to $20,000 of relief.
Beyond student debt relief, Pressley also spoke with Radio Boston about marijuana policy. To hear the full conversation, click the audio player atop this post.
