New data has shown cell phones and social media are having detrimental effects on young peoples' education, and Massachusetts schools are aiming to do something about that. The state is weighing broad restrictions on student cell phone use, and some school districts are already putting them in place. But not everyone agrees that banning phones outright would be a good idea. Radio Boston goes "Beneath the Headlines" on the state's debate over cell phones in schools.

This segment aired on May 26, 2023.
