According to data from the American Libraries Association, the number of books challenged in libraries statewide quadrupled between 2021 and last year. This comes as new reporting from the Anti-Defamation League shows a more than 30 percent rise in hate crimes in Massachusetts in that same time period, driven in part by antisemitic attacks. In this week's Comics Culture, we learn about the impact of banning books by talking about the commonly challenged, yet revered,  Maus, a comic about the Holocaust.

This segment aired on May 26, 2023.
