Drew Faust has seen and done a lot — as a civil rights activist, a historian and Harvard University's former president.

Her new memoir, "Necessary Trouble," looks back at her formative years in a tumultuous period of American and global history and discusses how New England changed her life.

Faust joined Radio Boston to talk about the book and how the battles she fought in the 1950s and 60s continue today.

This segment aired on October 27, 2023.
