This weekend, literature and maritime enthusiasts will take part in the 28th annual Moby Dick Marathon. Over the course of 25 hours, they'll take turns reading the celebrated Herman Melville novel either virtually or in person.

The event marks the day, more than 200 years ago, when Melville took off on a whaling ship from New Bedford. That trip would significantly influence his writing of "Moby Dick."
