A new survey from Public Religion Research Institute shows a third of Americans sympathize with Christian nationalism: the idea that America should be a Christian nation, first and foremost.

Conservative politicians, like former President Donald Trump, and right-wing groups, including local ones like Patriot Front, use it as a recruiting tool.

Does that message hold weight in traditionally liberal Massachusetts? Two experts who study Christian nationalism — both past and present — tackle that question.
