The 28X project, which envisioned Boston's first ever bus rapid transit line along Blue Hill Avenue, met significant community opposition after then-Governor Deval Patrick first proposed it in 2009. Later that year, state officials withdrew an application for federal funding for the project.

Now, 15 years later, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is trying to advance her own vision for a Blue Hill Avenue bus lane project. Are the differences big enough for history not to repeat itself?

Former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Jim Aloisi and former State Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz join Radio Boston to discuss.

This segment aired on March 12, 2024.
