Food inflation is straining wallets. What can we do about it?

New data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show Americans spend 11.3% of their income on food — the highest mark in 30 years.

Even as overall inflation has gone down since its rapid increase in 2022, food prices continue to rise and may go up as much as 3% this year, according to the USDA.

Massachusetts residents have been feeling that in their grocery bills, especially the growing percentage of people who are already food insecure. Radio Boston talked with three local food organizations working to do something about it.
