New book explores the past and present folk scene in Massachusetts
A new book documents the history of Massachusetts folk artists through their words and photographs, then and now. It's called "The Song is Still Being Written: The Folk Music Portrait Project" and is out Sept. 5.
Radio Boston talks with the photographer behind the book, Barry Schneier, as well as the longtime managing director of Club Passim, a hub of folk music in Cambridge.
And starting on Sept. 12, an exhibit featuring photos from the book will be on display at Boston's Boch Center Wang Theatre. The program is organized by the Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame. You can find more information on the exhibit here.
This segment aired on September 4, 2024.
