Learnings from guaranteed income pilots in Greater Boston

15:27

Guaranteed income pilot programs give money, often a few hundred dollars per month, to low-income families and track how the funds affect the families' well-being.

Radio Boston talks with Joanna Jimenez, guaranteed income program participant in Cambridge who received $500 monthly over 18 months, about her experience. Plus, we hear from Dr. Sumit Agarwal, who studied a guaranteed income pilot in Chelsea, about the promise, pitfalls and remaining unknowns of such programs.

This segment aired on September 6, 2024.
