Hundreds of thousands of adults and children have asthma in Massachusetts. And the third week of September is considered the worst time of year for attacks, medical stays and asthma-related fatalities, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. A number of factors contribute to this so-called "peak week" including the return to school, increased pollen and the change of seasons.

Pediatrician Dr. Faye Holder-Niles, the medical director of the Primary Care Asthma Program at Boston Children's Hospital and pulmonologist Dr. Jonathan Gaffin, director of the Boston Children's Hospital Severe Asthma Program, join us to discuss.

This segment aired on September 12, 2024.
