Five O'Clock Shadow, a Boston a cappella group, returns and drops new album, 'Time'

13:00

Over 33 years ago, Boston-based a cappella group Five O'Clock Shadow formed, gaining popularity among locals for its performances with the Boston Pops and renditions of the national anthem at Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox and Revolution games.

After some of its members started families, however, the band slowed down — and even briefly disbanded.

Last month, the professional singers announced the group's return and released their first all-originals album in more than 20 years.

Caleb Whelden, singer, songwriter and Five O'Clock Shadow member, spoke with Radio Boston about his love for a capella and the impetus for the album.

This segment aired on November 13, 2024.
