Supreme Court dismisses case against Boston exam schools
The Supreme Court dismissed a case against out of Boston this week over the admission policy at three exam schools.
A group of students and parents filed a lawsuit against the Boston School Committee, alleging a temporary admissions policy to the city's elite exam schools discriminated against white students and those of Asian descent.
Exam schools are highly competitive public schools that require prospective students to apply. The schools had dropped the admissions test requirement during the COVID-19 pandemic, instead using student performance and ZIP codes to weigh admission.
WBUR's Radio Boston spoke to Oren Sellstrom, who is the litigation director for Lawyers for Civil Rights in Boston. Sellstrom was part of the defense team in this case.
