The City of Boston made its first-ever mixtape

Some say the idea of a universal "song of the summer" is a thing of the past, but how about an entire mixtape? Six Boston area DJs and 17 local artists have joined forces with the City of Boston to create "Dear Summer Vol. 1" — the city's first-ever mixtape, and they want it to be your soundtrack to the summer.

DJ Chimel "ReaL P" Idiokitas is the executive producer and curator of "Dear Summer Vol. 1." He joins The Common to walk us through the mixtape and tells us what it takes to put together a project that represents the breadth of talent that makes Boston's music scene unique.
