Festival looks to uplift Afro-Latino music, community during a tense time

The king of Afro-Latin music in Boston will throw his biggest party of the year this weekend.

Jose Masso, host of WBUR's "Con Salsa," is the face of Embrace Masso Con Salsa International Music Festival. The event, which will feature music, spoken word and dancing, takes place Saturday Sept. 13 on Boston Common.

Masso joined All Things Considered to talk about the importance of music and celebration during a time when some in Boston's Afro-Latino and immigrant communities are feeling more anxious.
