Boston archaeologists want to learn about residents who lost everything during the Battle of Bunker Hill

04:10

On June 17, 1775, British troops set fire to Charlestown during the Battle of Bunker Hill. The thousands of residents who called the neighborhood home lost everything. Archaeologists with the city of Boston are excavating areas of the neighborhood to find the items these residents left behind, to hopefully tell a fuller story of their lives and the impact of war.

Boston's city archaeologist, Joe Bagley, joins WBUR's Morning Edition to talk more about what they're finding.

This segment aired on September 23, 2025.
