05:09

Graham Platner, the populist 41-year-old oysterman, is the only Democrat left standing in Maine's Senate race. His primary opponent, Maine Gov. Janet Mills, suspended her campaign Thursday morning. Platner is poised to take on longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins for her seat in the November general election.

WBUR senior political reporter Anthony Brooks joins WBUR's Morning Edition to explain the stakes of the race.

This segment aired on April 30, 2026.
