This show presented a lecture organized by the African Studies Center and the African Studies Program at Boston University and sponsored by the Boston University Humanities Foundation.

The speaker was Dr. J. Lorand Matory, Professor of Anthropology and Afro-American Studies in the Department of Anthropology at Harvard University. Dr. Matory's lecture was titled "Persistence and Permutations in the African Diaspora."

Dr. Matory was introduced by James Pritchett, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of Boston University's African Studies Center.
