Boston can be rather drab in November. But a Washington, D.C.-based man with a background in architecture and design has found a way to brighten up the city — at least on paper.

Scott Clowney wrote and created the pictures for a new coloring book that features Boston. The book is part educational, too — with write-ups on the history of each building. Its pictures are full of detail, so it's geared toward older kids and adults.

The book is called "Historic Buildings of Boston: A Coloring Book of Architecture." It features black and white renderings of some of the great historic sites in the city, including Faneuil Hall and the Museum of African-American History. It includes some more modern buildings, too, including Prudential Tower and Boston City Hall.

Clowney told WBUR's Lisa Mullins that he developed a special fondness for Boston when he came to the city to do research for the coloring book. Hear their conversation above.

This segment aired on November 19, 2018.
