See The New Mural Of Kobe Bryant In Cambridge's Graffiti Alley

After Sunday's tragic helicopter crash that killed Kobe and Gianna Bryant, they've been memorialized in a new mural, in Cambridge's Graffiti Alley.  The Central Square Business Improvement District commissioned the painting from artist Brandalizm.

The mural serves as a tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers player, who played with the team for 20 seasons.  It depicts Bryant's 13-year-old daughter atop his shoulders, with angel wings sprouting out of her back. Behind them are the numbers 8, 24 and 2, which were Bryant’s numbers during his time in the NBA and Gianna's basketball jersey number, respectively. Brandalizm painted the mural Monday.

In an Instagram post from the Central Square Business Improvement Page, a photo of the mural taken by photographer Nick Surette, reads “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.” Graffiti Alley has also been home to other memorial and tribute murals. Earlier this month, Brandalizm created a mural of Martin Luther King Jr. to honor his birthday.
