'Sound On' summer concerts return to WBUR CitySpace

Join us for Sound On, a summer concert series at WBUR Cityspace highlighting rising local musicians. Artists run the gamut from fresh faces new on the scene and experiencing a meteoric rise, to tried-and-true musicians who’ve been around for decades and are creating their most resonant work to date.

Sound On Global: Fusing the music of Venezuela and Appalachia with folk duo Larry & Joe
Join us for a spinoff to our series, featuring instrumental artists across all genres. Larry Bellorín and Joe Troop are on a mission to show that music has no borders. The virtuosic multi-instrumentalists fuse Venezuelan and Appalachian folk traditions on the harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass, and more. They'll present a bilingual program featuring a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling, sing-a-longs and dancing! Openers to be announced. Opening for Larry & Joe is carnatic violinist and composer Pranav Swaroop along with producer and saxophonist Tim Hall.

We joined forces with Boston Calling for a special evening of local music ahead of this year’s Festival. Hip-hop emcee Latrell James headlined the show. Openers included rock band sidebody and chiptune trio Battlemode.
