Critically acclaimed podcast co-hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo are back in the Buffyverse for “Buffering the Vampire Slayer: Once More, With Spoilers!” They’ll be discussing all 144 episodes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” for a second time, but this time with spoilers — a never-before-attempted feat of love and chaos.

“Buffering the Vampire Slayer” began in 2016 when Youngs, a musician, and Russo, a writer and LGBTQ activist, set about watching all seven seasons of the beloved television series. Buffering’s work has been named one of the top rewatch podcasts by the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Time and Paste Magazine. Not bad for two girls with a love of 90s nostalgia and patriarchy-smashing.

Youngs and Russo will join us just before the second season of “Once More, With Spoilers” is set to premiere and, in anticipation of that launch, will be diving into their most anticipated moments of Season 2 of “Buffy.” (Drusilla! Spike! Acathla's Portal! KENDRA!!! Catching a sword between your palms because you know the value of your own inner strength! Bad Eggs!)

The return of Youngs and Russo comes with the release of their new book, “Slayers, Every One of Us: How One Girl in All the World Showed Us How to Hold On.” The memoir reflects back on the relationship between the once-married duo, their love, divorce, life lessons and podcasting adventure with Buffy. To celebrate the release, the duo will also share book excerpts, answer audience questions and divulge some behind-the-scenes content on what it was like to write “Slayers” together.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase from our bookstore partner Harvard Bookstore.

About “Slayers, Every One of Us”
A memoir reflecting on heartbreak, perseverance and life lessons learned from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” from the hosts of the hit podcast “Buffering the Vampire Slayer.”

Russo and Youngs’ marriage started with an ultimatum: To further their relationship, Russo must watch Youngs’ favorite show, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” With the terms set, they began a journey that has led them through seven seasons of the beloved genre show, a podcast rewatching the series with their newly minted listenership of "Scoobies," unexpected success and a divorce. Through it all, their love for “Buffy” and their commitment to their community held them together against the odds.

“Slayers, Every One of Us” is the story of how two queer women navigated divorce on a very public level and managed to stay in each other's lives through it all. While chock full of Buffy-related content (and Buffering!) for true fans, this is ultimately a memoir of queer love and chosen family. It's a heartwarming story for anyone who's experienced lost love, and a roadmap for staying close with your ex.
